No more manual trimming needed by setting the cutting of jump stitches at any length, Thread Away buries all thread tails and eliminates manual trimming, you can add tie on/off stitches to a design if none are pre-programmed. 

Pinpoint Placement for accurate design positioning
Easy positioning and alignment of designs in the hoop, just select two point on the screen and match to the fabric then let the Bernina 500 adjust the design to ensure a perfect fit every time.

The BERNINA Jumbo Bobbin
The heart of the BERNINA 500 features a centrally placed driver, which allows the BERNINA Hook to run fast yet quietly but with speeds up to 1,000 stitches per minute. The bobbin holds up to 70% more thread than standard bobbins allowing you to sew longer without interruption. There is easy access to the bobbin with no need to remove the hoop in the unlikely event you do run out of bobbin thread!

When you purchase a new Bernina sewing machine from Quilt Direct, we want you to enjoy your new machine to the full. In order to help you get the best of your machine and fulfil your potential we offer extended support and assistance. Not only do we provide a 1-2-1 introduction to your new machine either upon collection or shortly afterwards.

We also host Bernina mastery sessions in our Studio which you can attend free of charge* for the first 2 years of owning your new Bernina.

Due to current social distancing, our studio is closed, however we are still here to offer virtual help either online or over the phone for sewing machine sales. We even have simulators we can share with you so you can see all the machine functions and features from the comfort of your own home. We also want you to feel happy and confident with your new machine purchase so we offer you a free 1 to 1 "set up to sew and go" online internet or telephone session to get you started and ready to take on your first sewing project. This session will last up to 1 hour.

The Studio at Quilt Direct is located on Dartmoor in Devon, with access for walking, cycling, fishing, golf and many more activities to entertain non-sewing partners and family members. Well behaved dogs are also welcome. If you would like information regarding local holiday accommodation this too can be provided.

In addition to the help and support Quilt Direct provide to new Bernina owners, Bernina in London also offers free tuition day/s dependent upon the make and model of your New Bernina Machine at their London Tuition Centre. These are small classes and your own model of machine is provided for use on the day.

*£5 booking fee per Bernina Mastery Session, max number of 6 persons per session with priority given to most recent Bernina sewing machine purchases.

Please note that to qualify for free tuition you must take your course within a year of purchasing your machine.

Bernina Machines sold in the UK currently have a full 7 year warranty on the whole machine.

To qualify for the extended warranty you need to register the purchase of your machine by returning the completed warranty card to us to sign. We will then arrange for a certificate of extended warranty to be sent to you from Bogod Co. In order to comply with the extended warranty you will need to maintain the machine and have it serviced within recommended periods.

All Bernina sewing machines have electronic stitch counters*, which give an on screen message when it is necessary to have a service. However, even if a machine is only used occasionally and the stitch count for a service is not reached, it is still necessary to have the sewing machine serviced a minimum of every 3 years.

The extended warranty applies for normal domestic use only - not educational or commercial use - and to the first purchaser only.

Due to current high demand, this machine has a 3-6 week wait time from point of order.
