At Quilt Direct, your BERNINA sewing machine is in expert hands. We are a dedicated BERNINA mono brand specialist, with all servicing carried out in house by engineers trained to BERNINA International standards. Whether your machine needs a routine service or attention to a more complex technical issue, you can trust it will be treated with care, precision, and deep technical understanding.
We offer professional servicing for BERNINA sewing machines across the full range, from much loved legacy models to the very latest machines. All work is completed by our highly experienced, fully accredited BERNINA technicians, Rick Beament and Nick Gear. Their knowledge, attention to detail, and long standing experience ensure your machine receives the highest standard of servicing, helping it perform beautifully and reliably for years to come.

Nick – Quilt Direct’s In-House Engineer

Nick has a background in engineering and formerly ran his own business using CDC cutting machines. He was trained by Rick to follow BERNINA International factory protocols and has also received direct training from BERNINA. Nick works exclusively on the newer BERNINA models and is our in-house engineer for customer service bookings.

Nick is also the lead for Q Series support and installation. When a customer purchases a Q Series frame, Nick will handle the entire build and installation process from start to finish, ensuring everything is aligned to factory specifications. He is also available for Q Series servicing, relocations, and frame support.

Rick – The BERNINA Doctor

Rick is an experienced electronics engineer with a deep passion for BERNINA machines, especially the classic vintage models. He has been working in collaboration with Quilt Direct since 2008 and is renowned for bringing much-loved, well-used  Bernina machines back to life. His knowledge spans the full range of BERNINA models, including overlockers, and he has received specialist training from BERNINA. Rick operates independently and continues to service machines for his existing customers. If your machine was previously booked with Rick, please continue to book directly with him.

Booking Your Service

All service bookings are made with Nick via Quilt Direct. Rick manages his own schedule and bookings independently. When you contact us, we will help determine the best course of action for your machine and guide you through the next steps.

Sending Your Machine to Us

If you are not local, we offer a fully insured collection and return service for your convenience. Whether you’re sending your machine in for servicing or arranging both delivery and return, we’ll handle the logistics with care. All charges are inclusive of VAT and insurance.

Please note: Shipping is only possible if you have the original machine box and internal packaging. If you no longer have this, we strongly recommend hand delivery or arranging a drop-off and collection appointment.

We do keep a limited number of original BERNINA boxes available, which can be hired or purchased if required. Please enquire about availability at the time of booking.

Once your booking is confirmed, we will advise you on how to prepare your machine for safe travel and provide a checklist of what to include.

We aim to turn around all machines within the same working week, provided there are no issues or non-stock parts required.

Please do not send your machine without a confirmed booking.
