Longarm E2E Quilting Service

If you have a quilt that needs to be finished we can help with the aid of our Bernina Q24 Qmatic and computerised Edge 2 Edge designs, which we have lots for you to choose from in many different styles.

With many years of quilt making and Bernina expertise the transition to offering this exciting service is a journey that we are enjoying and have built our skills over the past two years. We have taken several courses with professional Longarm quilters and Katherine attended specialist training on the Bernina long arms at Bernina International in 2019 in Steckborn Switzerland.

Together, we can help you complete your quilt for you or the the lucky recipient to treasure.

What are Edge 2 Edge designs?

E2E designs are designs that have been generated in specialist software to create a pattern that stitches from one edge of your quilt to another, rows can either be interlocked at the design stage or a row by row effect can be chosen depending on your quilt. The design is repeated from the top to the bottom of your quilt. We have 100’s of designs to offer and are very happy to source (or possibly design an edge to edge pattern for you in our software).

Quilt Top Preparation for Quilting E2E on our Bernina Q24 QMatic

Top
Please ensure your quilt top is complete!
Place a note attached with a safety pin to the top of your quilt, especially if it is directional.

Backing
We recommend 100% cotton and have several 108” wide backings for you to choose from here. Your backing fabric has to be at least 4” larger all around the edges than your top in order to attach it to the quilt frame. Place a note attached with a safety pin to the backing, especially if it is directional.

Batting
Your batting has to be at least 4” larger all around the edges than your top in order to attach it to the quilt frame.

Thread
We include 100% cotton Aurifil thread for you in the colour of your choice when we quilt your quilt.

The Do & Do Not’s for Success

Do not baste your quilt, we need the layers separate to load onto the quilt frame!

Polyester cotton or sheets are not suitable please do not ask us to use them.

If the backing fabric has joins please do try to ensure they are horizontal and do use a ½” seam allowance, removing any selvage first and do press the seam open .

Do not add any embellishments prior to E2E quilting, please leave that until after the quilting has been done.

Do ensure that you have trimmed all your thread ends.

Do check all your seams for loose stitches or gaps.

Do Ensure all your seams are pressed well and borders are added accurately. Click Here for notes about adding borders.

Do square up the top and backing to avoid additional costs.
