About Us
Quilt Direct is one of the largest and longest established dedicated quilting mail order companies in the UK.
Established in 1986 by Katherine Letherby in the delightful stannary town of Tavistock Devon as Moor Silks & Quilts in a beautiful and historic Mews.
In 2004 Quilt Direct (mail order) was moved to Katherine & Graham's ancient farmhouse on a remote part of Dartmoor where Quilt Direct was able to respond to the demands in growth of internet shopping.
2018 was a year of change:
In 2018 the opportunity arose to move to larger premises at Pitts Cleave on the outskirts of Tavistock. With a larger office and warehouse with access for large deliveries, it was an easy decision. The biggest draw was the Studio space; it meant Katherine finally was able to fulfil her dream of a dedicated Bernina Studio, a comfortable and light teaching space with the full range of Bernina machines, including the Q series long arm machines.
Bernina Knowledge
Katherine was delighted to attend BERNINA University 2024, an exclusive and intensive international training event focused on advancing technical expertise and product knowledge. Held in the United States, is designed exclusively for BERNINA specialists and dealers.
The programme covered in-depth training on new developments, machine innovations, and best practices direct from BERNINA International. This ongoing professional development ensures that we continue to offer the highest standard of advice, support, and service to our customers.
