Bluebirds Nest

For more than 25 years, I’ve looked out my studio window to draw inspiration from nature
for my fabric and quilt designs. The cycle of the seasons and the wildlife surrounding our
home influence my color palette and design themes. Robet is a bit of a bird watcher, but
more importantly, a bird nurturer. He has numerous bird feeders and houses around our
property to attract a variety of birds. Red-headed black birds, meadowlarks, barn swallows,
bobwhites and bluebirds gather at the feeders throughout much of the year. Spring brings
the return of our pair of geese that nest at the pond. The hoot of an owl is heard through
open windows on quiet summer evenings. Quail and pheasant dart in and out of the tall
grass in early fall. We’re amazed and delighted by the abundance of feathered friends right
outside our door. I hope Bluebird’s Nest inspires you to create a quilt in shades of blue to
celebrate the wonders of nature outside your window.
