Wool Thread

Aurifil Lana is a 12wt wool thread made from a fine wool and acrylic blend, offering a soft, lofty finish that is well suited to hand quilting, big stitch quilting, hand embroidery, and decorative hand stitching. The heavier weight creates a visible, textured stitch line with a warm, natural appearance that cotton threads cannot replicate.

Lana is particularly popular for hand embroidery on felt, where its soft texture and rich colour complement the fabric beautifully, making it a natural choice for folk-style projects, seasonal decorations, and cosy textile crafts. The range is available in an extensive palette of over 190 colours, including a wide selection of solid shades and mélange colourways spanning the full colour spectrum. Each spool contains 325m. Lana thread can also be used on domestic sewing machines with a suitable needle for decorative topstitching and quilting effects.
