The BERNINA Hook
The heart of the BERNINA 580 Liberty Edition is the BERNINA Hook, a centrally positioned hook system designed to sew fast yet quietly. It delivers high-precision stitches up to 9 mm in width, and the jumbo bobbin holds up to 70% more thread than a standard bobbin so you can sew for longer with fewer interruptions.

BERNINA Adaptive Thread Tension
BERNINA Adaptive Thread Tension automatically helps maintain balanced thread tension for each stitch type and setting. It electronically responds to stitch width, stitch length, sewing speed and needle position on every needle penetration, helping you achieve consistently fine stitching without constant manual adjustment.

Sew with Greater Ease
The BERNINA 580 Liberty Edition is designed to make sewing and quilting feel intuitive. The presser foot can be lowered automatically at the start of a seam, threading is semi-automatic, and the machine can cut the threads for you at the end of a seam. Combined with the centrally located 4.3" colour touch screen and lower thread sensor, these features help keep everyday sewing tasks smooth and efficient.

BERNINA Dual Feed
The innovative BERNINA Dual Feed helps tame tricky, layered or slippery fabrics by feeding from above as well as below. It provides superb fabric control and good visibility while you sew, and when you do not need it, Dual Feed simply disengages and tucks neatly out of the way.

BERNINA Stitch Regulator (BSR)
The BERNINA Stitch Regulator (BSR) is included with the B580 Liberty Edition and supports free-motion sewing and quilting with straight or zigzag stitches. It keeps stitch length consistent even at variable sewing speeds, making it much easier to achieve neat, even results when you are working free-hand.

There are many other thoughtful details designed to make your day easier. Multi-function knobs offer a wide range of controls that are simple to adjust even while you sew, and the programmable foot control lets you tailor the machine to suit your preferred way of working. Reverse and securing buttons are positioned at the front of the machine for easy access with your thumb, and free-arm sewing makes it convenient to handle closed projects such as cuffs and sleeves.

Embroidery made easy

The BERNINA 580 Liberty Edition is embroidery-ready when you are. Simply add the optional Embroidery Module M with Smart Drive Technology (SDT) and your sewing and quilting machine becomes a fully featured embroidery machine, with smooth, precise stitch-out and easy on-screen design control.

Exclusive Liberty embroidery designs

The B580 Liberty Edition includes 349 built-in embroidery designs, including 91 exclusive Liberty embroidery designs inspired by Glen Lyon Blooms and Velasco Meadow. You can create beautifully coordinated embroidery for quilts, garments and accessories straight from the machine, including floral motifs, in-the-hoop projects and sampler-style designs.

Optional Embroidery Module M (SDT)

The optional Embroidery Module M with Smart Drive Technology (SDT) gives you a generous embroidery area of up to 400 x 150 mm (15.7" x 5.9"). It delivers smoother, quieter embroidery movement and turns the B580 Liberty Edition into a versatile sewing, quilting and embroidery system.

Half-price module offer

We offer the Embroidery Module M at half price when purchased with the BERNINA 580 Liberty Edition, making it an excellent time to choose the embroidery option from the outset. If you think you may want embroidery, buying the module with the machine offers outstanding value compared with adding it later.

At Quilt Direct, we want you to make the most of your new Bernina machine. That’s why we provide extended support and assistance to help you unlock its full potential. Every customer receives a personalised 1-2-1 introduction to their machine, either at the time of collection or shortly afterwards.

We also offer a complimentary** Bernina Mastery Session at our Studio, which you can attend within two years of purchasing your machine. Additional sessions are available at the standard rate.

Our Studio is located within the stunning Tamar Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), on the edge of Dartmoor, Devon. The area boasts scenic walking trails, cycling routes, fishing spots, golf courses, and more; perfect for entertaining non-sewing partners and family members. If you require details on local holiday accommodations, we’re happy to assist.

Additionally, Bernina’s London Tuition Centre provides free machine-specific tuition for new Bernina owners, offering even more opportunities to refine your skills.

Bernina machines sold in the United Kingdom currently include a full 7 year manufacturer’s warranty covering the whole machine, giving you long term confidence in your investment.

At Quilt Direct, we want you to feel confident and well supported with your new machine. We will help you register your warranty so everything is set up correctly from the start.

To activate the extended warranty, complete the warranty card included with your machine and return it to Quilt Direct. We will sign and register the warranty for you and arrange for your official extended warranty certificate to be issued by Bernina’s UK distributor, Bogod & Co.

To maintain the extended warranty, the machine should be serviced within the recommended service periods. Bernina sewing machines include electronic stitch counters which display an on screen message when a service is due.

Even if the machine is used only occasionally and the stitch counter reminder has not appeared, the machine should still be serviced at least once every 3 years to keep it running smoothly.

The extended warranty applies to normal domestic use only and is valid for the original purchaser of the machine. It does not apply to machines used for educational or commercial purposes.

If you have any questions about your warranty, servicing, or looking after your machine, the Quilt Direct team will always be happy to help.

Your machine will be shipped via an insured courier. For in‑stock machines, we dispatch Monday to Thursday on a Next Working Day delivery service.

The BERNINA 580 Liberty Edition is a limited-edition special, and our first deliveries are expected in August 2026 (date to be confirmed). As soon as stock arrives, we will contact you to arrange a suitable delivery date or collection from the Studio.

Alternatively, you are very welcome to arrange for the collection of your machine from the Studio once it is available. If you require advice before purchasing, our team will be happy to help you choose the best configuration for your sewing, quilting and embroidery needs.
