Join our in-house embroidery expert Jo for an inspiring two-day workshop where you’ll create a beautifully embroidered cushion from a selection of five different sizes.

This hands-on class is the ideal opportunity to develop your embroidery and sewing skills, blending creativity and precision to craft something truly personal. You'll have the opportunity to explore the capability of your embroidery machine and its array of accessories.  You’ll learn how to combine machine embroidery in the hoop, piecing, use of stabiliser and batting, creating borders, piping, fun in selecting contrasting fabrics, creating button holes and a whole lot more.  

Skill Level: all skill levels with some experience using an embroidery machine

When: 14-15 May 2026

Where: Our light, spacious studio at Quilt Direct, designed for comfort and creativity

Duration: 2 days

What's Included:

  • Small class size (maximum of 8 participants) for plenty of individual support
  • Comprehensive pattern and instruction sheet
  • Embroidery design selection or bring your own if you wish which can be adapted to the pattern
  • Relaxed, creative environment with refreshments throughout the day
  • Lunch options: pre-order from a local café (additional cost) or bring your own

What to Bring

  • A requirements list will be sent out to you ahead of the class
  • Refreshments will be available throughout the day and we will take orders for lunch to be delivered from our local cafe (chargeable) or please feel free to bring your own

Cancellation Policy

If for some reason you are unable to attend the course, we will be happy to refund the amount paid, give a credit, try and move you to another class or apply a store credit provided you give us more than five days’ notice. Cancellations less than five days prior to the class may result in a full fee forfeiture.

An expert in machine embroidery and bag-making, Jo presents classes on those subjects in our studio. You'll recognise her easily - she always wears purple! Jo works with brands like OESD, By Annie and Moda, and runs the Facebook group 'Sew with Jo'.
