What You’ll Learn:

✔️ How to layer and mark your quilt

✔️ How to use a variety of free-motion quilting feet to create stunning results

✔️ Experiment with different threads and stitch sizes

✔️ Sketch and practise quilting different free-motion quilt designs

This workshop is packed with practical techniques and is suitable for all levels and for those looking to build their skills. You’ll work at your own pace in a supportive environment, with plenty of hands-on guidance, tips and encouragement to help you make the very best start on your free-motion quilting journey.

Course details:

  • Time: 10:00am – 4:00pm
  • Refreshments: Morning and afternoon breaks provided
  • Lunch: 30-minute break (bring your own lunch or purchase from a local café at additional cost)
  • Class size: Maximum of 8 participants to ensure plenty of tutor attention
  • Location: Our bright, airy studio

What to Bring

  • A requirements list will be sent out to you ahead of the class
  • Refreshments will be available throughout the day and we will take orders for lunch to be delivered from our local cafe (chargeable) or please feel free to bring your own

Cancellation Policy

If for some reason you are unable to attend the course, we will be happy to refund the amount paid, give a credit, try and move you to another class or apply a store credit provided you give us more than five days’ notice. Cancellations less than five days prior to the class may result in a full fee forfeiture.

Linzi Upton

Award-winning quilter Linzi is queen of the long arms! She carries out our edge-to-edge service, finishing quilt tops for customers all around the UK. Linzi also presents many of our classes, particularly about the long arms and overlockers. A keen DIYer, Linzi can't pass up an upcycling project. Originally from Aberdeenshire, Linzi moved to Devon in 2024 and brought a little piece of Scotland with her - Scottie dog Nessie!
