Congratulations on the purchase of your new Bernina 990! Unlock the full potential of the outstanding BERNINA 990 on this annual 4-day boot camp designed to take your skills to the next level covering sewing, embroidery and quilting techniques on this latest state of the art machine. Quilt Direct's owner and expert tutor Katherine Letherby who has over 40 years of teaching on Bernina machines, will guide you seamlessly through the process using the Bernina mastery workbooks.
Whether you are a brand new B990 owner or have had some time to practise and want to expand your existing knowledge, this class will give you the confidence to explore infinite possibilities and transform any project into a masterpiece with ease.
Day 1 will provide you with a good understanding of all parts of your machine, deciphering the touch screen and functions, swapping out different accessories, general maintenance and much more.
Day 2 will hone your sewing techniques focussing on stitch selection including altering, pinpoint laser, securing and saving, reverse and backstepping, balancing, combi mode, sideways motion, jumbo stitches, stitch designer, button holes, taper stitches
Wednesday Day off - after an intensive 2 day start, this is your opportunity to take some time away from the studio and have a change of scene - there is plenty to explore in Devon! Alternatively you have the option to come into the studio to practise on a 'embroidery in the hoop' exercise with Jo.
Day 3 return to studio to focus on embroidery - preparing for embroidery (including using the new giant hoop), navigating the embroidery settings, editing, lettering and design placement
Day 4 will be preparing to quilt, patchwork settings, appliqué, use of the placement scanner and camera, foundation paper piecing, walking foot quilting, freemotion and quilt labelling

The cost of the 4 day Boot Camp is £400* which includes refreshments throughout the day and a light buffet lunch. The course runs on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday starting at 10am and finishing each day at 4pm with a day off on Wednesday. We can provide a list of local B&B’s and hotels if you are coming from afar and will be staying over.
