Foundation Digitising with BERNINA Software V9

Foundation Digitising with BERNINA Software V9

We’re excited to welcome our new tutor, James Deakins, who will be leading this one-day foundation class designed for BERNINA Embroidery Software 9 Creator and DesignerPlus users.

With a background in cinematography and a passion for sewing and embroidery, James brings a unique visual perspective to the digitising process. Her transition into embroidery design has been a natural evolution, and the BERNINA software has become a powerful tool in her creative toolkit. James is thrilled to share her knowledge and guide you through the exciting world of embroidery digitising.

In this hands-on course, you will explore the powerful design tools in BERNINA’s Creator & Designer V9 software. The day begins with a refresher on basic digitising techniques, followed by a practical session where you'll create an elegant floral design - ready to stitch out by the end of the day.

What You’ll Learn:

  • How to choose the right image for digitising

  • Planning stitch sequences before you begin

  • Minimising tie-ins and tie-offs for a cleaner finish

  • Using invisible travel stitches to improve design efficiency

  • Applying the branching tool to reduce unnecessary stops and starts

By the end of the session, you’ll have a beautifully digitised design that is not only visually appealing but also optimised for smooth and successful stitching.

This class is limited to just 8 participants, ensuring plenty of one-on-one support in a friendly, relaxed environment. You’ll also enjoy the warm hospitality that Quilt Direct is known for.

Courses Requirements:

  • A laptop with BERNINA Embroidery Software 9 Creator or DesignerPlus installed
(Please note: version 8 users will need to upgrade to version 9 prior to attending)

  • A separate mouse (not an integrated trackpad) to allow precise control of design tools
