Award-winning quilter Linzi reveals the key to binding quilts successfully, starting with essential preparation tips. Discover her timesaving tricks for cutting and stitching binding strips, and find out how to neatly apply plain binding and join the tails for a crisp finish. Then, learn how to make the back of your quilt look as good as the front, with must-have techniques for mitered corners and machine stitching. Next, find out how to create and apply piping that adds a pop of color to your binding and instant visual appeal to your quilt.
Binding techniques covered will be:-
- Flanges, including prairie points
- Piping
- Basic Quilt Finish
- Bias Binding
- Double Fold French
There will also be opportunities throughout the day for advice and recommendations on any projects you are working on that require a binding finish.
The course runs from 10am to 4pm each day with refreshment breaks in the morning and afternoon and 1/2 hr for lunch where you can bring you own or purchase from our local cafe (charged).
There is a maximum of 8 people on the course.
What to bring:
Sewing machine in good working order. Bring a quilt or we will provide quilt samples on which to practice.
